Jeopardy fans were flabbergasted by a contestant’s response on last night’s show when he confused a rock legend with a star of the screen — although, to be fair, both have been knighted by the British monarchy… but that’s about the only major similarity. Mazin Omer, a student from Toledo, Ohio, slipped up on Monday’s (June 13) episode of the game show when he mistook a photo of Michael Caine for an image of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.
Host Mayim Bialik presented an image of Caine — an actor known for his roles in the Dark Knight films, Cider House Rules and Little Voice — and asked Omer to name the actor after he selected $400 in the Knight After Knight category.
After Bialik read the clue, “To honor his father, this star here was knighted in his birth name, so he’s Sir Maurice Micklewhite,” Omer guessed, “Who is Mick Jagger?”
While Jeopardy moved on after Mazin’s mistake, the internet was not so quick to forget. Soon after the moment aired, fans expressed their disbelief on Twitter, where they shared their reactions to Omer’s “embarrassing” response.
While there’s been plenty of buzz from fans, there’s been no reaction from Caine or Jagger just yet — although the musician is on tour and sick with COVID, so after those canceled shows, at least he’s got plenty of time to catch up on Jeopardy.
