Rich Strike, the long shot winner of the Kentucky Derby, will make his triumphant return to the track Saturday in New York for the 154th running of the Belmont Stakes. Post time is scheduled for 6:49 p.m. ET and the race will be televised on NBC.
While horse racing’s Triple Crown is out of the picture, there’s plenty of intrigue in Rich Strike’s encore performance following his improbable win at Churchill Downs.
We The People, however, opens as the morning-line favorite at 2-1, followed by Mo Donegal, who finished fifth at the Derby, at 5-2. Rich Strike opens at 7-2, with Creative Minister at 6-1.
Preakness Stakes winner Early Voting and Derby and Preakness betting favorite Epicenter will both skip the Belmont Stakes and instead look ahead to the Travers Stakes in August at Saratoga.
Coverage from Belmont Park Saturday runs from 3-5 p.m. ET on CNBC, before moving to NBC from 5-7 p.m. ET. The proceedings can be streamed at NBCSports.com, the NBC app and on Peacock.
