The YES Network announcer called Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run of the season on Tuesday as the New York Yankees lost to the Texas Rangers, 3-2, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
“High fly ball. Deep left. There it goes, soaring into history! He’s done it! He has done it! Sixty-two! Aaron Judge is the American League single-season home run leader! The AL king, case closed!”
Former Boston Globe reporter Gordon Edes: “Great job, @YESNetwork team, capturing the Judge moment. Chills. Bravo, Michael Kay and the great production team#YES”
YES Network colleague and former Yankees star Paul O’Neill enjoyed the moment as well: “What a thrill to see Aaron Judge make history…Congratulations!!!”
After the historic home run, the New York Post’s Jon Heyman commented on Judge’s blast: “Let’s be real: Aaron Judge, not any of those juiced-up guys from the steroid era, is now MLB’s rightful record holder.”
However ESPN’s Jeff Passan saw things different: “Aaron Judge’s 62 home runs is a remarkable achievement. Barry Bonds’ 73 home runs is the record. There is nothing else to discuss.”
