HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss baseball and the Ole Miss Rebels have an in-state score to settle when they meet on Saturday (3:00 p.m. CT, ESPNU) to start a best-of-three series with a trip to Omaha on the line.
The Golden Eagles (47-17) are hosting a super regional at Pete Taylor Park for the very first time, making just their second appearance in a super regional overall. It’s also the first time two programs from the state of Mississippi are facing off in a super regional.
Southern Miss will give the ball to sophomore standout Hurston Waldrep (6-1, 2.97 ERA) to start off the series. Waldrep pitched 6⅔ stellar innings, allowing only two runs against LSU during the Hattiesburg Regional.
Ole Miss (35-22) announced this week that it will give the ball to Dylan DeLucia (5-2, 4.69). DeLucia tossed six innings against Arizona in his most recent start and allowed four runs.
