It’s been 2 months since 343 Industries first revealed that it would be offering Drop Pod updates to Halo Infinite. These ‘regular’ updates aim to bring a plethora of fixes and tweaks to Infinite’s gameplay, and we just got new details about the first-ever drop.
Each Drop Pod aims to deliver Quality of Life updates, rather than containing additional content. Now over 6 months on from launch day, Halo Infinite still has desync issues, and the game suffers from poor UI design which appears to limit the addition of content.
Halo Infinite’s first-ever Drop Pod update will release next week, most likely between June 13-16. We don’t have an exact date confirmed just yet, but 343 assures fans that it’s on its way.
Speaking of Drop Pods, don’t miss the new leak for Halo Infinite Season 3 ‘Helljumpers’ here! 343 is already commenting on the image that’s doing the round online.
After the Drop Pod launches, new Halo Infinite players will need to play 25 matches before heading into Ranked multiplayer. This should help combat Infinite’s major cheating problem is a huge issue in a competitive playlist.
There will be no restrictions below 899 CSR (Gold 6), but once the highest rank player hits Platinum 1, they won’t be able to party up with just anyone. The higher your rank, the tighter the skill gap has to be in each Fireteam if that squad wants to enter Ranked matchmaking.
“For example, if a player progresses from 900 CSR (Platinum 1) to 1200 CSR (Diamond 1), their Fireteam CSR limit would tighten from 900 to a stricter 750. At this new 1200 CSR, the lowest rank they could party up with would then be 1200 (their CSR) – 750 (the Fireteam CSR limit) = 450, or Silver 4.”
Unranked players can only party up with other unranked players, or anyone Gold 6 and below, 343 confirms. And while these skill gaps are still relatively broad, they’ll be getting adjustments based on player feedback soon.
And it looks like Halo is about to get some classic fan-favorite maps too! Could we see our first tease coming during Xbox & Bethesda’s Game Showcase tomorrow?
