The chicken restaurant will sell two pieces of bone-in chicken for 59 cents through an offer on its app. The price is what the chicken cost when it was founded in 1972.
Popeyes says it was founded by “entrepreneur and culinary innovator, Al Copeland. With one small restaurant and a big idea, Copeland introduced the New Orleans–style fried chicken that has now made the brand famous throughout the world.”
The sandwich will be available at restaurants nationwide for a limited time for $4.99. Popeyes Rewards members get a double win – 150 bonus points for ordering on the app or website.
Popeyes said the new sandwich “is made special by an all-new sauce, featuring a creamy buttermilk ranch, kicked up with a zesty and buttery buffalo sauce.” The chicken is hand battered and the sandwich comes on a brioche bun with barrel-cured pickles.
